"Emma! Bassssssss!" A loud ear-piercing shrill entered our bedroom, rendering our overly exhausted bodies awake. "Guess who's motherfucking back!!!" The overtly ecstatic intruder announced before bouncing at the foot of the mattress, sha¬¬king Emma and I wide awake. Even in my bedroom, getting sleep was futile. We left the hospital yesterday…and I hoped to finally get some shuteye, but I supposed such wishful thinking were simply too ambitious…
"Gee, I can't tell from the familiar screeching..." The words came out before I could stop them as I blindly reached out at the side table. My mood took a massive nosedive when I squinted at my phone and was affronted by the glaring digits. "For the love of sanity, must you scream, Lindsey? It's five-thirty in the morning."
Emma slapped me with a pillow, hitting me right on top of my head. "Don't be rude! They flew all the way to see us, you idiot!"
"Ew, someone's a grumpy riser." Lindsey giggled, bouncing more fiercely towards my side of the mattress, goading me furthermore.
The unwelcome commotion took all traces of sleepiness from me.
If one couldn't win, join in, right? My hand was about to grab Lindsey's ankle when she caught me sneaking my hand and she immediately bounced off of the bed.
"You ain't that slick, Bass Cole. Nice six-pack though." She cheekily winked at me before her amused laughter echoed in the massive master's bedroom.
With a defeated sigh, I grumbled with a soft smile tugging at the ends of my lips.
